PARTICIPATION

A common denominator among Niparajá programs is to strengthen a culture of participation. For this reason, several of our projects aim to motivate and empower the citizens of our region to make positive changes in social, environmental and economic outcomes through their actions.

In Niparajá we promote social participation in different levels with actions such as:

1. Propose environmental issues on the public agenda to define problems, develop visions, set strategic goals and identify solutions. Working Example: Water Dialogues.

2. Promote effective governance mechanisms to find natural resources or sites that have social relevance and ecological. Working Example: Colectivo Balandra, Plataforma Bahía de La Paz, and Defiende La Sierra campains.

3. Participate in public policy decisions which directly influence economic activities and lifestyles of people. Working Example: Espíritu Santo, Sierra La Giganta.

4. Ensure that our public representatives and government institutions work under standards of accountability, transparency and sensitivity to environmental issues and sustainable development issues of interest to the community. Working Example: Monitoring Marine Protected Areas, Water Dialogues
